Moving to Music City

Perhaps you’ve noticed that I have not been posting as much these days. Well, there’s a very good reason for this:

I’m thrilled to finally be able to announce that come July 12th, 2017, I will officially be a resident of Nashville, Tennessee.

As you can imagine, I had a lot of time on the road to collect my thoughts and reflect on the last decade plus that was my life as a professional musician in the pacific northwest. There were many successes, many failures, many good times, and a few bad ones, but I look back on all fondly nonetheless. Simply put, it’s where I cut my teeth. Above all, while there were a small number of Seattle music folks I got to see during the whirlwind that was my last few weeks in town, there were many more whom I was unable to. I want to thank everyone in the many facets of the northwest music community for having me involved in whatever capacity. I will always be proud of having come from the Northwest and I hope to stay in touch with those still grinding away. It truly is a scene that is growing and changing in rapid and exciting ways.

I think one of the most difficult parts about embarking on a journey of this magnitude is the fact that, if I’m being honest with myself, I never really wanted to leave the Northwest. It’s always been the place I call home, and over the years I’ve come to know the people and the landscape pretty darn well… and I liked them both! Even still, I knew that for my particular situation, a change was necessary in order to continue to pursue the life I had always envisoned having. I had noted a certain degree of complacency begin to prevail within my attitude toward music in Seattle. They say sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone in order to continue to grow, so here we are.

Win, lose, or draw, we couldn’t be more excited to be down here in Nashville. At the very least, it will be a fun adventure. And if we hate it, now we know how to pack up our lives into two cars and go to the next place!
