UW Winter Drumline Auditions Underway

Today we had the first batch of auditions for the first ever winter drumline at the University of Washington. Everyone did a great job and we’re looking forward to finishing these up and digging in once 2011 arrives. Auditions will be complete by this Friday.

This year, the winterline will be focusing on a modernized show 4 minutes and 30 seconds long which will be performed during the two Basketball games this season. The group will also do one clinic, and one additional performance at the Kamiak High School Day of Percussion.

By eliminating a wealth of the music and cadences that the line has to learn during the fall, we’ll be able to work on a smaller and more advanced body of vocabulary. The hope is that the members will learn to focus hard on the finer details of line-playing.
